Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick

Love at first swipe! This is a heck of a nude my lips but better color for deeper skinned ladies. It's more gray/taupe ( in a good way) than beige and no Barbie pinkness in it. I have never in my life found a true nude color that did not either wash me out, or look like a foundation. This is so very flattering in a "I did not try too hard" kind of way. I am nc40 with olive green undertones. I cannot believe this has been under my nose for so long. If you are similar to me in coloring, just try it! It may be "the one" that has eluded you for so long. Gorgeous!

How to: get rid of dark spots

Dark spots, or hyperpigmentation, caused by age, sun exposure, and acne may not be harmful to your health, but they can certainly be annoying. Read this article to learn about the various treatment options available to help fade dark spots over time.

1. Use lemon juice. Lemon juice has natural bleaching properties, which can help reduce the appearance of dark spots and create more even, lighter skin. Rub freshly squeezed lemon juice onto your dark spots and leave the juice on for about 10 minutes before rinsing. Repeat this treatment three times a week.

Lemon juice dries out the skin and makes it hypersensitive to the sun, so it is important to follow this treatment with a moisturizer and sunscreen.

2. Use apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar works by speeding up the process by which your skin naturally sheds, which can help even out skin tone. Dab the vinegar onto your dark spots with a cotton ball and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing.

3. Use red onion. The acid in onions has natural skin-lightening properties, which can help fight dark spots. Extract the juice from the onion by either squeezing it or putting it in the blender. Use a cotton ball to dab the juice onto your dark spots and leave it on for about 10 minutes before rinsing. Repeat this treatment daily.

4. Use garlic. Cut a fresh garlic clove in half and rub it onto your dark spots. Alternatively, blend the garlic in a food processor to create a paste and use a cotton swab to dab it onto your skin. Leave the garlic on for 30 minutes to an hour and then rinse.

How to Find the Perfect Nude Lipstick

Hourglass, the luxury line of performance makeup that is one of California’s chicest beauty exports, has just launched a new nude lip collection with a shade to suit everyone. To choose the perfect nude lipstick to complement your colourings, Hourglass’s head makeup artist, Mel Leonard shares her top tips.

“A good way to colour match your perfect nude is to hold it up to your lip and see if it enhances your colour tone” Mel explains. If it washes you out put it down. Now consider your natural lip colour and complexion.

If you have deep toned lips
“Naturally dark lips can wear the palest of nudes. Opt for a full coverage opaque lipstick to neutralise the natural lip pigment.” Try the Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo Nude No. 1 (the palest pink).

If you have rosy lips
“Select a nude with beige gold undertones to neutralise the red in the lips. Alternatively, apply a little concealer to the lips first - it will help mute the redness.” Try the Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo Nude No. 2 (a honey beige) and Nude No. 5 (a shimmering golden peach).

If you have pale lips
“A dash of subtle colour flatters pale lips, adds a gorgeous dimension and enhances with a barely-there sensuality." Try the Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo, Nude No. 3 (a nude rose) and Nude No. 4 (a pink beige).

If you have a dark skin tone
“Try Femme Nude Lip Stylo in No 6. Its mauve undertones compliment black and Asian skin.”

There you have it - finding your most flattering neural lippy couldn't be easier...

5 Ways To Hide Dirty Hair (& Still Look Good)

Here are our tried and tested answers to the eternal what-to-do-with-dirty-hair question:

The Ol’ Headwear Con:

Why do you think celebrities wear so many hats (and hair scarves)? They can’t do their own blowouts either, so bide the in-between hairstylist time with a little felt. Let’s call Jessica Alba the queen of this hat bluff.

Work With it:

Some of the best hair magic happen when you’ve got excessive oiliness, believe it or not. Add some volumizing powder into it (or baby powder, if you’re desperate) and you’ve got yourself a texture party that’s great for going with the beach hair look, ‘Kate Moss coming out of the club’ hair (’90s Kate, though… the perfect dirty hair inspo) or some equally grungy concoction you can make up on the spot. Keep adding powder for this one; the more the better.

Side-Part Bun:

Often, the concentration of oil will be along the center-part line so you can get away with spritzing dry shampoo over a side part and gently backcombing so you’ve got height at the roots and through the lengths. Affix into a side-pony or low-bun, keeping the whole look loose and relaxed.

Work With, Not Against:

Not for the faint-hearted, but for the hair experimental types why not take a note from the runway with a wet look effect? Steal your boyfriend’s pomade or gel, and work a deliberately downtown, Alexander Wang-esque effect.

Delay it:

Living Proof’s Prime Style Extender: Get on it. The buzz on this product is huge, and with good reason — it allows you to starve off dirty hair for 2x longer than regular styling products using their technology that repels dirt and oil. It also works to hold styles for longer… double win!

8 Tricks For Getting The No Makeup Look

Red lipstick is one thing, but on a regular weekday, looking like you've got on a full face of makeup can be synonymous with looking like you're trying too hard. It's not that we're trying to hide the fact that we're wearing lipstick, but more often than not, if you're showing major signs of wearing a ton of makeup, people tend to focus on that fact instead of how good you look overall. To help you help others focus on your beauty, not your faux pas, we're sharing our best tips for how to make it look like you're not wearing makeup below.

Use neutral colors: If you're going for the "barely there" look, choose neutral colors that will compliment your skin tone. While it's true that purple shadows bring out hazel eyes and greens bring out brown eyes, keep things looking natural with shades of tan, brown and cream for shadows. When it comes to blush, go for peaches and roses, or the color your cheeks naturally become when you're flushed.

Mix bronzer with your moisturizer: To get a sun-kissed look without looking like you added anything to your skin, mix a liquid bronzer in with your usual face lotion to dilute the color and help it spread easily.

Blend, blend, blend: Obvious as it may sound, blending your makeup can make or break a look. The key to a great smokey eye is blending the shadow, the secret to using highlighter is blending in the product and nothing can ruin a look more than a visible line of foundation on your jawline. With each step of your makeup routine, blend your makeup, then blend once more just for good measure.

Apply a primer: The benefits of a primer are twofold. First, a primer will help your makeup to look smooth and clean, not caked on or uneven. Second, when you apply primer to your eyelids, you cut way down on the likelihood of any creasing that can happen with your shadow.

Choose a lip color two shades deeper: For the ladies who won't leave the house without something on their lips, keep things looking natural with a lip stain or tint that's two shades deeper than your natural color for a "just kissed" look. When you're going for an au naturel lip, avoid waxy lipsticks or dark shades.

Groom your brows: Eyebrow pencil, when used, should be two to three shades lighter than your actual brow color. Before you apply pencil, make sure your eyebrows have been groomed, whether that mean shaped, tweezed or waxed. Nothing takes the attention away from a pretty face like ungroomed eyebrows.

Avoid mascara clumps and flakes: First and foremost, if your mascara is more than three months old, you need to ditch the tube in favor of a fresh one. Old mascara gets dried out, causing clumps, flakes and sometimes even infection. Curl your eyelashes before applying mascara for a good, natural base, then apply by shaking the wand at the root of the eyelashes and brushing up and out. For a more natural look, apply just one coat. To take things a step further, use a brown or clear formula instead of black. Your lashes will look great, but no one will be able to tell why.

Use the correct concealer color: When concealing trouble spots like dark circles or pimples, using the right kind of concealer is crucial. Avoid orange, "fake tan" colors of concealer. Use yellow-toned concealer for redness or dark circles, lavender concealer for yellowish skin or extremely dark circles and green concealer for pimples or other red spots.

Colored Cat Eye Makeup Tips

From the iconic Brigitte Bardot, to the modern muse Adele, the cat eye is a classic beauty trend that’s been holding ground since the 1950′s. As a make-up artist, I love recreating this flattering and feminine look for my clients, and my favorite way to freshen up the trend is to add a pop of colored liner.

Winged eyeliner may seem difficult to master at first, but with a little patience and practice, it can become as easy as putting on lipstick. Summer is a great time to experiment with different colors, so I created a simple step-by-step guide to perfect color winged eyeliner below.

Step One: Using a small eyeliner brush dipped in gel or cream liner, draw the angle for your wing first in the outer corner of the lid. Working backwards is actually the perfect way to set up the shape of the line, and drawing the angle first gives you a guide on how far you want to extend it.

Step Two: Start at the highest point of the angle with your brush, and draw a slanted line to the inner corner of your eye. Don’t worry if the line isn’t perfect–you can smooth over it a few times with your brush.

Step Three: Fill in the uncolored portion with your brush and eyeliner. You can build the pigment to be as sheer or bold as you want.

Step Four: Finish with three coats of volumizing mascara.

How Not To Shape Your Eyebrow

Brow styles might come and go, yet there's constantly the feared brow appearance that ends up being a set “do not”. Right here are the leading 5 eyebrow forms NOT to do, that you can wish to stay away from the time you get your tweezers.

1. The Round Eyebrow:

They keep tweezing from below the brow in the incorrect location, making a 1/2 circle. The round brow has actually changed the 'tadpole' brow (thick in front, which goes to a prompt slim arc at the end of the eyebrow) as the present most-seen eyebrow incident.

Repair: Create your arc just at the outdoors edge of your iris. Tweeze a straight line from the start of the eyebrow to the arc, to make a more powerful, much more remarkable arc to the eyebrow without having to tweeze a lot.

2. The Arc in The Wrong Place:

Or, in a lot of instances, the arc is also much outside the eye. This takes place when the arc is produced by a pencil lining up to the side of the nose to the outdoor iris of the eye. Having an arc put as well much out produces the impression that the eye is really closer to the nose as compared to what it truly is.

Solution: To relocate the arc deeper into the internal edge, take 2/3 hairs at the arc, going to the nose to relocate the arc in.

3. The Straight Eyebrow:

A straight brow is when the arc of the brow either never ever existed, which is unusual, or excessive eyebrow was removed from the best of the arc of the brow, which flattens the arc and develops a straight line.

Repair: Avoid tweezing any sort of hair in the eyebrows that are in fact contacting the brow. This will certainly keep the eyebrow form, and keep the location over the eyebrows tidy without contacting and flattening the arc.

4. Utilizing Stencils To Create Your Brow Shape:

Since everybody's bone framework and eye form is diverse, your brow form truly has to do with the bone that's below the eyebrow. This identifies the brow appearance and form that are distinctly yours.

Solution: Rely on patterns to develop an excellent brow appearance with darkness and pencils, however, do not utilize it as an overview of tweezing.

5. Also Cut Eyebrows:

The extremely cut brow looks excellent for one day and after that, as it expands in, looks dreadful. The incredibly cut brows are chopped, as well as are briefly cut the incorrect method.

Solution: To cut extremely lengthy eyebrow hairs, clean eyebrows up and reduce to 1/4" over the eyebrow line. Clean the eyebrow hairs to see where the eyebrow drops. By keeping the length, you likewise stay clear of the chopped off hairs that could develop a brief brow at the end of the eyebrow.

As mentioned earlier, brow styles may come and go. However, the important point here is, you should look closely whether the brow style looks good on you or not.
