The Best Eye Make Up for Redheads

The Best Eye Make Up for Red Hair and Green Eyes

The classic image of a redhead is the alabaster-skinned beauty with flaming red hair and emerald eyes. Should you be fortunate enough to have red hair and green eyes you can stick to the old adage that red always looks good in green. A smoky green eye shadow makes a great look for a night out. For regular wear redheads with paler complexions would do well to try brownish pinks or shades of purple.

For base eye shadow consider:

  • Earth tones such as beige, taupe, cream, mocha, or khaki.
  • Shades of green.
  • Soft purples such as violet, lilac, or lavender.

Use the same color palette for eyeliner but resist the temptation to go overboard. If you have red hair and green eyes you already have a lot of color “pop” to draw attention. Your eye makeup should set the stage, not steal the show.

The Best Eye Make Up for Red Hair and Blue Eyes

You should probably exercise even more restraint if you have blue eyes, especially lighter shades of blue; too soft a shade can wash you out.

Try out these looks if you have blue eyes:

  • Warmer earth tones such as pinkish browns, peach, or nude coffee.
  • Heat it up with more iridescent eye shadow. Think copper, bronze, or gold.
  • With blue eyes feel free to try darker purples than would a woman with green eyes. Think of a deep plum.
  • Navy eye-liner applied to the lower eyelid can also be quite stunning for blue eyes and offers a great alternative to black eyeliner, which can be a bit harsh for paler complexions.

The Best Eye Make Up for Red Hair and Brown Eyes

Remember when we told you to keep your eye makeup muted? Throw that all out the window. Giorgio Armani’s International Face Director Reza Zaimeche thinks that, aside from foundation, there are no color rules when it comes to makeup.

Liberate yourself and try out the full range of color:

  • Neutral colors including shades of brown or pink.
  • Charcoals or grays with purple undertones.
  • Shades of gold or yellow.

The key to great eye makeup is to find the best framework to draw attention to the particular qualities of your eyes. People should be drawn in by your eye makeup but not to the point that they notice nothing else. Show off the beauty that is uniquely yours!
